JEEZY KREEZY!

Been a bit busy gallivanting across europe and completely forgot about this.
HOWEVER Many nice new things have come into my life in my little 3-week hiatus, so every cloud eh, every cloud.

GOOD THING ONE.
the city of ghent. What with belgium somehow slipping my culturally-aware radar, i was a bit apprehensive of going. The whole countries just lovely, unbelievably friendly and everything built all nice and charming, as opposed to england which was basically horribly brought up on violence, drinking as much as possible in a given space of time, and a complete lack of respect to everyone else. Enough of that, Ghent on the other hand is just the culmination of Belgium's charm and friendliness. People really aren't afraid to just walk up to you and start a conversation and there's just no social tension anywhere, its amazing. Its packed full of little markets and cramped windy streets full of all sorts, and those huge friendly squares bordered by bars that you only seem to ever find in mainland europe. Also bearing home to musical extraordinaires Soulwax/2ManyDjs, its basically the culmination of all good things ever. If you get a chance to go, DO IT.

GOOD THING 2
Wavves is a 'noise rock' outfit led by Nathan williams, a san-diegan skateboarder. Despite recording all their songs on what sounds like a shit mobile phone in someones shed, the overall effect is surprisingly good. Click this link for a self-titled track which really encaptures what they're about.

GOOD THING 3.
Although not as exciting as the other 2, A 30 hour coach ride led to the rediscovery of the pokemon games for game boy color. Nothing quite takes you back as much as running into a fucking pidgey for the 50th time in a row trying to get through a patch of grass. Any 90s kid who didn't spend their youth grinding their thumbs down to pulp trying to catch mewtwo basically didn't have a childhood, squares.
